Wedding Readings for Children
What can be better than having little ones joining in with special wedding readings for children – even if it is just a nursery rhyme. There will not be a dry eye in the place! Here are some ideas.
AA Milne, Now We Are Six The Morning Walk
When Anne and I go out a walk,
We hold each other’s hand and talk
Of all the things we mean to do
When Anne and I are forty-two.
And when we’ve thought about a thing,
Like bowling hoops or bicycling,
Or falling down on Anne’s balloon,
We do it in the afternoon.
Extract from The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupery
“For me you’re only a little boy just like a hundred thousand other little boys. And I have no need of you. And you have no need of me, either. For you I’m only a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, we’ll need each other. You’ll be the only boy in the world for me. I’ll be the only fox in the world for you…”
“Of course, an ordinary passerby would think my rose looked just like you. But my rose, all on her own, is more important than all of you together, since she’s the one I watered. Since she’s the one I put under glass. Since she is the one I sheltered behind a screen. Since she’s the one for whom I killed the caterpillars (except the two or three for butterflies). Since she’s the one I listened to when she complained, or when she boasted, or even sometimes when she said nothing at all. Since she’s my rose.”
Traditional Nursery Rhyme
Pussicat, wussicat,
With a white foot,
When is your wedding,
And I’ll come to it.
The beer’s to brew,
The bread’s to bake.
Pussy cat, pussy cat,
Don’t be too late.
Hoddley, poddley, puddle and frogs,
Cats are to marry the poodle dogs;
Cats in blue jackets and dogs in red hats,
What will become of the mice and the rats?
