Dream Weddings on a Shoestring Budget
Every bride dreams of having the best and most memorable wedding; with all the trimmings and taking care of all the special details, after all, getting married is usually a once in a lifetime affair. But what if you don’t have the money to afford the dream wedding? Instead of foregoing your dream, try out these strategies.
1. Look for the best credit card deal when doing your research to pay for some of your wedding costs. Many wedding vendors give special discounts or extra incentives when you pay using your credit card. Just make sure to pay off the amount once you get those wedding gifts. This is also a great start to build up a good credit score.
2. Do-it-yourself is the name of the game when it comes to weddings on a budget. From invitations and place cards to bouquets and flower girl baskets, plenty of details can be crafted at home.
3. Invite only the closest people to you and your soon-to-be spouse. If this is impossible, then limit your guests so you don’t need to pay for a bunch of random strangers at a wedding.
4. If you have a formidable cook in your family, find out if he or she is willing to prepare some of the food. Even if it’s the appetizers or desserts instead of the main course, you can still save a great deal of money.
5. Look for favours in wholesale. While you don’t want to cut out a token of appreciation for your guests, you also don’t want to have them leave your wedding empty-handed.
6. Instead of taking a limo, consider hiring a person who drives your personal vehicle to the ceremony site. Even if you want to get in a big party bus later, you can cut out this expense now.
7. Ask your parents if they are willing to contribute any money to the wedding. While you have to expect that the answer may be no, gone are the days when only the bride’s parents are asked to contribute.
8. Limit your spending for pre-wedding activities. Instead of having a huge engagement party, have your closest relatives and friends over for a meet-and-greet barbecue.
9. Look for your “something old” in more than one item. Perhaps you can score a veil, shoes, jewelry or other items from women in your family who are happy to share.
10. Think about alternative options for a tux. The most formal of tuxes are likely going to cost the most money, so consider choosing a more casual vibe.
11. Consider having your wedding on an off-day. While you are probably wary of having your wedding on the night before a major holiday or on a random Tuesday, you can consider Friday nights and Saturday afternoons instead of paying top dollar for a Saturday night event. You can also look into the winter months for lower prices.
Even when you can’t spend a lot of money, you can still have a gorgeous nuptial celebration.
