Add the Wow Factor to your Wedding with some Light-up Letters
Wedding trends come and go. Some are fleeting while others are here to stay for ever. As furniture hire specialists, we have a privileged insight into what’s hot and not right now on the wedding scene. One trend that’s been hot for many years and looks set to continue are light-up letters. Seeing your new married name or initials in lights provides a stylish focal point to a marquee or wedding venue.
These 5 feet tall light up letters from Wedding Letter Hire make a dramatic and stylish statement to your guests. Because they are powered individually, they are easy to install. They are available on an individual basis, so you can make any word or phrase you want. Most importantly, they provide an interesting talking point and fun photo opportunity for your guests.

Our brides have been creating a wide range of displays with our light up letters and it’s been fascinating to see the photos which are sent on to us from wedding parties. Our letters have been used in a huge variety of venues from the more traditional hotel function suite, to country parks and forests power supply permitting of course! They are particularly popular in marquees as a way of providing light during evening functions, as well as being a welcome focal point. Marquees can be a bit bland so anything that provides light and visual impact is a great idea.
Top ways to use light-up letters
- See your new name in lights a popular choice is for the letters to spell out the new surname. Some put a ‘The’ in front, and some just have the name. This works better for shorter names than longer ones, and gives your guests no excuses not to know your new name!
- MR&MRS. If your new name is a bit too long then a simple MR&MRS is a good option. We do have ampersands available alongside the letters.
- LOVE to set a romantic theme, spell out words such as ‘LOVE’ or ‘I DO’. Two or three short phrases or words in lights dotted about will spread the light through your venue better than one long word at one end of the room.

The best thing to do is to have a good look around your venue and check out the power sources. Work with your venue manager to decide where you could place the light-up letters and how much space you will have available. If you’re not sure, we recommend you cut the letters to size out of cardboard first. Place them where you think best, and look at them from all parts of the room. It’s not perfect but it will give you an idea of scale and whether it’s practical to have them where you’d like them. Allow plenty of room for people to be able to walk past safely, and make sure there is a power supply nearby.
Something we have seen which is just brilliant is for the bride and groom to have their photos taken with the letters. This not only looks fabulous in the wedding album, but also gives you a fun image to use on your thank-you cards. Your guests will also want to do the same, especially those who share your new name, or are a MR&MRS themselves.
Light-up letters are very popular right now and it’s easy to see why. Lights of any kind are perennially popular, but our letters are helping couples add that little bit of wow factor to their wedding celebrations. What would you create for your wedding?
