What Photographs Can I Have During My Wedding Ceremony?
There are two main factors to consider when you’re thinking about photography during your wedding ceremony 1. do you want the photographer to be at the front with you and 2. will the vicar/registrar/priest allow the photographer to be at the front with you?
You will have discussed point number one with your photographer before the wedding day, and they should go and talk to whoever is conducting the wedding ceremony to ask where they are allowed to stand.
Most vicars/registars these days allow the photographer at the front of the ceremony but there are some churches where it is not allowed, and some venues where it isn’t possible to be at the front.
Don’t despair though! You can get some lovely photos from the back of the ceremony. These can show off a beautiful church, and if your photographer has a long lens, you can still have some closer shots of exchanging the rings.

It’s also an advantage being at the back when the readings are taking place as the guest is naturally facing the camera.

If you choose to have your photographer at the front of the ceremony (and are allowed) then you can get some beautiful shots with your guests in the background.

If you are planning something special during your ceremony then discuss this with the photogapher beforehand. This groom had a surprise for his bride. He’d booked an owl to deliver the rings. He’d managed to tell me so I could chat with the handler to see when and where the owl would fly down. Of course with animals, not everything goes to plan but if your photographer is prepared, then you’ll have a better chance of capturing the moment.

Of course, being at the front means that your photographer can capture the moment the bride walks down the aisle.

Wherever you’ve chosen your photos to be taken from, chances are that you won’t even notice the photographer even if they’re at the front.
