The bride’s food guide before the wedding
When it comes to big events, eating well often gets overlooked, and this is certainly a possibility in the lead up to your wedding. And when food does become a focus, it’s often about weight loss. However, while everyone wants to look and feel their best on the big day, missing out on essential nutrition is a no-no. That’s where our guide on what to eat comes in handy!
- Keep your energy levels up
There’s a lot going on in the build up to the big day, and the last thing you want is a lack of energy. If you’re too tired to get on with the organising you might end up forgetting things or not getting just what you want. Eating a balanced diet rich in fresh fruit and veg will help you keep your energy levels up.
The key is variety, and you can cover that by eating produce of all different colours. In addition to your fruit and veg intake, make sure you get enough lean protein on board, and go for complex carbs like brown rice and wholewheat pasta too.

- Look after your digestion
Nerves are inevitable during the wedding lead-up, but it really helps if you look after your digestive health. In the same way that you want to stay energised and protect your smile, you’ll want to avoid an upset stomach too. In addition to following the balanced diet we just mentioned, the following foods are great for avoiding bloating, and for overall digestive health:
- Watermelon
- Asparagus
- Bananas
- Yogurt
- Whole grains
- Care for your skin and hair
The point about eating a balanced diet can’t be stressed enough and, again, that’ll play a huge part in your skin staying clear and your hair looking shiny. In addition to the food you eat, drinking water will really help – both for your beauty regime, and for your energy levels too.
Back to skin and hair; the following foods can certainly play a big role in supporting your pre-wedding beauty regimen:
- Avocados
- Eggs
- Salmon
- Nuts and seeds
- Spinach
- Berries
Alongside eating these nutritious items, you should try to avoid processed foods, and foods high in saturated fat and refined sugar. That’ll help prevent breakouts and your hair losing its lustre.

- Protect a perfect smile
A huge smile is a given on your wedding day, and you want that smile to show off your sparkling white teeth. But! There are a number of things you want to avoid, as eating the wrong things could stain tooth enamel. What is enamel, you say? Well, it’s the hard outer coating of your teeth; the white surface that you want to look shiny and clean on those wedding photos.
That’s ‘what is enamel?’ covered, so now let’s move onto what stains it:
- Cigarettes
- Coffee
- Red wine
- Fizzy drinks
- Fruit juices
All of these items can cause staining, so it’s best to limit your intake. And in the immediate build up to the big day, avoid them as much as you can! In contrast, there are a number of foods that can actually help whiten teeth naturally, and these include:
- Strawberries
- Apples
- Carrots
- Yogurt
