Healthy Morning Habits – Wedding Edition
So your big day is coming up…congratulations! But with your increasing list of ‘decisions-to-make’ and the wedding stress building, it’s hard to stay relaxed. The team at Supersonic Fitness understand the importance of preparing for your wedding, not just physically but mentally.
Starting your day with healthy morning habits creates a constructive knock-on effect. There are so many advantages to being an early riser. Ultimately, the early bird does catch the worm…I’ve seen it in my garden. The prime benefit is simply having more time in the day. Whether that’s used for organising your wedding invites or finally arranging the seating plan – will those two guests really mind being sat next to each other? Early rising sure can enhance your productivity. With that in mind, here are 5 healthy morning habits that I recommend you implement in the build up to your special day…
-
Be An Early Riser
Come on, you’ve got a wedding to plan! But how can you ensure you stick to the new early-rising routine that’s going to help you? Firstly, our fitness staff believe consistency is key; try waking up around the same time each day. Your sleep pattern will be disrupted if you snooze your alarm, making you feel groggy and possibly grouchy. Try putting your alarm somewhere out of reach, meaning you have to get up in order to turn it off. As you’ll wake up when you move – we advise the opposite side of the room! I’m sure you just want to snuggle under the duvet but visualise how amazing the special occasion will be after you’ve persevered and completed those jobs.
-
Be Prepared
I always feel more motivated when I have a to-do list that I need to tick-off throughout the day. It ensures that my mind is focused on accomplishing the goals that I’ve set. Make a list each morning stating the tasks you intend on achieving. Don’t forget to end it with something rewarding – a relaxing yoga session, a catch up with friends, take some time out for you. Created the gift list? Done. Organised wedding favours? Done. There’ll be a release of dopamine from accomplishing those tasks and you will feel great.
-
Energise Yourself!
Whilst you might have a to do list as long as your arm, taking time out to exercise when you’re planning your wedding is really important. Not only will it help you achieve any fitness goals you might be working towards in the build up to your wedding day, but exercise is also a great way to keep you focused and energised to get your ‘to do list’ completed.
From experience, our personal training team find that many brides want to work on burning fat and/or sculpting their abs and arms; our Super 60X and HIIT & Core classes are a sure fire way to help with this. If group fitness isn’t for you and you need some 1:1 TLC then have a chat with one of our personal trainers; they’ll be able to keep you on track with looking and feeling awesome for the big day.
In addition to keeping you energised, exercise is a also a great way to help you unwind and get a good nights sleep. If your brain is whirring around contemplating your colour schemes and you find it hard to switch off, then try doing some relaxing yoga or meditation before you go to sleep and they are a great way to help you relax and switch off before going to bed.
-
Keep Hydrated
Hydration is necessary for staying alert and focused (and getting your to do list done!), detoxing your body and encouraging weight loss. After all, our bodies are over 50% water! You’ll be surprised at the difference of starting the day with a glass of water makes for ‘waking you up’ and helping with your concentration levels.
Some of our members often say they find water boring, if you fall into this camp too then try adding sliced lemon, cucumber or other fruit into your water bottle, sliced lemon in hot water is lovely and energising.
If you are exercising, then keeping your fluid levels topped up is even more important as exercise causes dehydration. Water is the best way to keep hydrated but you can also try a protein shake or smoothie to assist with your post-workout recovery from all that hard work in your training session. Did you know that we have a café that offers nutritious food and drinks? Pop in and tell us about your plans so far whilst trying one of our healthy juices or smoothies.

Keep Fuelled
Not only is it important to stay hydrated, but when you’re getting ready for your big day, it’s important to keep fuelled correctly too. It’s all to easy to grab food on the go, but often this food can be low in nutritional value and detrimental to keeping your energy levels high.
We recommend starting your day, whatever time that might be, with a healthy and nutritious meal. This can set the tone for the day and start you off on the right foot. ‘Breakfast’ means ‘breaking the fast’, so refuel your body after a night’s sleep where the body has been using a high amount of energy for recovery and repair.
Start with something high in fibre and vitamins yet low in sugar and unhealthy fats. Natural or Greek yoghurt with seeds and fruit is great for a light breakfast; wholegrain toast with eggs are beneficial for something more filling and high in protein. Feeding your body sufficiently is essential for brain function and energy, irrespective of your body goals. Don’t always skip breakfast just to cut out a few calories, this will result in low energy which will compromise your fitness journey and organisation.
Throughout the day, keep your energy levels topped up with foods which contain slow-release carbohydrates, protein and healthy fats. This will give you the energy you need to get your normal day to day tasks complete in addition to ticking off everything you need to do for your wedding.
