Band or Wedding DJ -Which is Best?
This is it, the big party!
Hopefully everyone is suitably softened up at this point in your wedding day and ready to let loose. So, what’s it going to be? Wedding band or wedding DJ?
For a long time, this has been an internal debate for couples looking to book their evening wedding entertainment. The truth is that both have their strong points. Live music is something special and exciting, whereas wedding DJ’s can be quite cost effective in comparison to a live band and still have the ability to fill a dance floor.
Let’s take a look at the pros and cons of both to help you decide, should I book a band or a DJ for my wedding?

Which is cheapest to hire?
When looking at wedding DJ cost in comparison to how much it costs to hire a full wedding band, it is clear to see that DJs are far cheaper.
If looking after your wedding entertainment budget is important to you, it might be best to opt for a DJ here.
Who is most interactive?
Whilst wedding DJs can MC a night and make announcements, they simply can’t beat a live band for interactivity.
Wedding bands are perfect for interacting with your guests so are the much better choice if you are after that kind of night at your wedding!

Best ‘gig’ experience?
There is something special about live music that you just don’t get with a wedding DJ.
That buzz. When the hairs stand up on the back of your neck and the pure excitement of being at a live show. These days, couples want their wedding night to feel like a real rock concert, and modern wedding bands can absolutely provide this.
Best for taking song requests?
If the ability to take song requests on the fly is important for you when looking at wedding entertainment, it doesn’t get much better than a wedding DJ.
Bands can admittedly take some requests but are much less likely to perform them for the first time on your wedding night without rehearsing them first!
Which can be enjoyed by everyone?
The reality is, a good wedding DJ is fun to dance to if you are involved on the dance floor.
For bands, you can enjoy the spectacle of watching a live performance without having to be on the dance floor yourself. For this reason, bands are much more inclusive of the room as there is the opportunity to watch from the sidelines.
Can work with sound limiters?
ÿSound limiters are becoming more and more popular at wedding venues across the UK.
Whilst many bands are able to set up in a way to work with sound limiters, wedding DJs have the edge here. Their ability to control the volume with ease means that they are a safe choice for anyone looking to book wedding entertainment.
