Forget Fad Diets-Try Hypnotherapy
Every bride wants to look their best on their big day, and as well as stressing about the guest list, seating plans, and bridesmaid dresses, you might have added losing weight before the wedding to your never-ending to do list.
A wedding day can be a powerful motivator to get fit and eat healthily, but it’s important to go about it the right way. And you can get a little help from hypnotherapy if things don’t go to plan!
The benefits of getting fit before your wedding
Getting in shape before your big day will not only make you feel confident and look great in your dress, but it can also kick stress in to touch. You might feel like you’re on overdrive with wedding planning, but exercise is an excellent stress buster that boosts your energy, so you’ll feel much more able to deal with things.
Pre-wedding exercise tips
Don’t get fixated on the scales
Even if you have a goal weight in mind, try not to get too hung up on what it says on the scales. They don’t tell the full story, and any weight gain can be very demoralising at a time when you don’t need it. Instead of trying to get down to a certain weight, why not just focus on becoming the healthiest version of yourself you can be? Eat sensibly, eat well, drink plenty of water, and get enough sleep; it really can be that simple. There’s no need for fad diets or any drastic torturous exercise regime.
Set realistic goals
If you want to get fit before your wedding, it can help to set some realistic goals. If you don’t already exercise regularly, this is not the time to throw yourself head first into CrossFit. Set a goal like ‘I will exercise 3 times per week.’ Choose a form of exercise that you enjoy, whether it’s powerwalking, swimming, or an exercise class, and exercise at a level you can sustain, then build up.
Don’t set yourself up for failure
When it comes to weight loss, if you’ve left it late and your wedding is fast approaching, don’t stress yourself out trying to lose an impossible amount of weight. Doing this can make you abandon your efforts altogether if you don’t see the scale moving in the right direction. As a rule of thumb, losing 1-2lbs per week is safe and sustainable.
Work out at home if you’re frazzled
If you have a million and one things to do and you just don’t have the time or inclination to hit the gym, class, or pool, why not put on a workout DVD at home? Exercise might be the last thing you want to do when you feel stressed or worn out, but I guarantee you’ll feel better, and one step closer to your goal.
Eating well before your wedding
The stress of wedding planning can make you reach for junk food that’s high in fat and sugar. This not only sabotages your weight loss efforts but it will also rob you of the precious energy you need at such a busy time. By making just a few sensible (not drastic) tweaks to your diet, you can still lose weight and feel a lot better by the time your wedding comes around.
Watch your portion sizes
Even if you think you’re eating healthily, if you eat more calories than your body needs, you’ll put on weight over time. A good trick to control your portions is to use a smaller plate. It will look like you have a lot of food, because the plate looks full, but you’ll automatically eat less.
Make fruit and vegetables your friend.
You can fill up on them for very few calories and you’ll get the benefit of the nutrients too.
Cut down on fat
Opt for lean protein like chicken, turkey, and fish, and lower fat versions of dairy products.
Watch your alcohol intake
People tend not to think about liquid calories so much, but the calories can really add up. Most alcoholic drinks are full of sugar and empty calories, not to mention they sabotage your diet by making you crave junk food too.
Are you stress eating?
Do you turn to food when you’re stressed out? It’s easy to find comfort in high-fat, sugary food when we need comfort-have you ever heard of anyone reaching for a salad when they’re stressed? No, me neither!
If you find yourself overeating to cope with the stress of wedding planning, hypnotherapy can help.
Virtual Gastric Band hypnosis
The Virtual Gastric Band is a non-surgical technique, which uses the power of hypnosis to train your mind and body to accept less food. In sessions, I use clinical hypnotherapy techniques that tell the brain to give your stomach the message that it’s comfortable and there’s no need to give it any more food. The virtual gastric band works on the same principle as the gastric band surgery, but without the risk, side effects, or waiting time.

What does it involve?
The Virtual Gastric Band is a programme of four one-hour sessions held over four weeks. The sessions are individually tailored to you, and you’ll receive a recording that you have to listen to every day to support you in between sessions. This is a potentially life-changing treatment, not a temporary fix, and who knows, you could be healthier and happier for life, not just for your wedding.
Contact me for a FREE complimentary 30 minute consultation to find out how hypnosis can help you. Consultations and sessions can take place over Skype if out of area and work exactly the same.
