5 Tips to Choosing the Perfect Ring
It’s an important decision to make choosing rings, you don’t want to make a bad choice as it may be one you’ll regret forever……!!!!!!
Here are some great tips and hints to help you select your perfect ring!

1. Prices. Firstly set yourself a budget and consider your payment options. Have a look about and get an idea of what you like and the price ranges the rings will fall within. Be sensible about your budget remembering that the cheapest is almost always not going to be the best!!! You do get what you pay for so buy the best you can afford, these rings need to last a lifetime. Budgets can be tight and many jewellers even independents these days offer interest free credit as a payment option but be sensible about what you want to pay as the sky is the limit on these things. I would also add most retailers these days are happy to look at the price providing you are in a position to commit to making a purchase there and then and yes buying both from the same shop helps!
2. Do some research on styles and consider what you like but also if you have an engagement ring what compliments that ring without being overpowering. You may try a load on and decide you hate them but at least you have narrowed it down a little as the choice can be overwhelming especially if you intend to buy both rings on the day. Less can more more and a plain ring can look just as nice asÿone with diamonds, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Think about the style and width of your engagement ring and whether these are features which need to be carried through, does it need to have stones and if so how do they need to be set in the ring? this will help you form an image in your mind of how your perfect ring will look. If you can’t find a ring you love have a look at having one made often it can be cheaper than you thought.
3. Prepare to compromise a little on the first two. You may find a ring you absolutely love and it is nothing like what you had in mind and may stretch the budget but remember this is a one off purchase you will never make again so be completely happy with whatever you choose as forever is a looooooooonnnnngggg time!! Don’t be afraid to ask for some advice, a good jewellers will be able to offer decent honest advice on what looks best, not which is the most expensive you can see that for yourself.
4. Don’t take your Mum or Mother in law. This is a purchase that you need to make as a couple and one of the few decisions which can be made without the influence of others so make it a decision you make together. Your Mum got married in a different era to you so will have a different idea of what her perfect ring will look like and will no doubt gasp at the prices, as she paid two and six for her ring in 1960 something…..It’s not that her opinion is not valid but I very much doubt you take fashion tips from your Mum, so don’t letÿher chooseÿyour ring for you!
5. Ask to use a mirror in the store and get an idea of how others will see the ring when you have it on. It shouldn’t matter what others think as this is a purchase you make for yourselves and as long as you are happy that’s the main thing. Having said all that seeing the ring from an onlookers perspective can help to eliminate or raise an issue regarding a width or style choice and can prove helpful so don’t be afraid to ask to use a mirror.
