Plan your Wedding Disco
I’m sure all couples will agree that an awful lot of time and careful planning goes into organising your Wedding Day, however over the years we have found that one part which is often neglected until the last minute is the Wedding Disco. We believe this is a big mistake and consider your Wedding Disco to be the most important part of the evening and one of the most memorable parts of the whole day.
We regularly see couples spending hundreds and hundreds of pounds on a Wedding Cake unwilling to spend a similar amount on a Disco for their Wedding. There is absolutely no problem with spending that on a cake as a lot of hard work goes into making it but the point i’m trying to get across is this How many weddings have you been to where you can recall a guest remembering the cake and commenting on it? We had a great time at David & Alice’s wedding, the cake was delicious! Now personally I have never heard anything like this however I a have lost count the number of times I have heard people say We went to David & Alice’s wedding and the DJ was terrible, nobody danced all night

As with anything in the world there is always someone that will do it cheaper, you could probably get someone to make your Wedding Cake for £20, but would you risk it? Would you trust an electrician that said he could re-wire your house for £100 when all the other quotes were £500? I’m assuming the answer is no, but this leaves the question why do so many couples think that getting a cheap DJ means they are getting a good DJ?
I have seen DJ’s charging as little as £60 for a 5 hour Wedding Disco, in fact we have a term amongst professional DJ companies for them – Sixty Quid Sid. Any Wedding Disco company that runs a professional service is going to have lots of overheads such as van insurance, business premises rent, staff wages, Public Liability Insurance and much more. There is simply no way that a business can function and pay a DJ for £60. Sixty quid Sid probably doesn’t have any Public Liability Insurance, his equipment probably won’t be PAT Tested which means IF he does actually turn up on time the venue won’t actually allow him to perform as they insist on suppliers having both.
The appearance and sound quality of a disco can vary massively. We regularly see other Disco’s using tired equipment from the 1980’s, tatty old speakers which sound terrible and old fashioned lights which get very hot due to requiring high powered bulbs and can be a fire hazard. All our equipment is more or less brand new, we are always updating equipment and our most popular Wedding Disco package is made up of around £8000 worth of Lighting and Sound Equipment. It is a very sleek modern setup which uses state of the art moving head lights, exactly the same sort of light you see at Concerts and live TV shows such as the X Factor and Dancing on Ice.
By the time you factor in everything above, plus an hour to setup, an hour to packup and an average Disco length of 5 hours, £300+ doesn’t seem bad value for money for what we consider a key part of your evenings entertainment.
Since they intervention of laptops and mp3s it seems that everyone can claim be a DJ these days just simply by downloading a few tunes but are they really going to know how to play to the crowd, keep the dancefloor full and use a microphone to introduce your first dance and entertain the crowd? Just because I have a digital camera I don’t claim to be a professional Wedding Photographer, and would never dream of offering those services and potentially ruining someone’s day.
Here at Club Class Entertainment we only use full time professional DJs who we have met during our long DJ careers. The whole reason we set the company up was from having bad experiences with amateur DJs at friends Weddings turning up in jeans and a t-shirt playing songs they have recorded from YouTube. Our DJs are passionate about their job, after all it’s their livelihood and not just something they do for a bit of extra cash on a weekend. Our DJs know how to entertain a crowd, they can adapt their music to suit your tastes, they always turn up on time, have a professional attitude and are well dressed.
Any professional Wedding DJ should happily provide you with references from previous clients and venues, ask in advance for copies of PLI and PAT certificates, try to visit them at a Wedding Fayre or Wedding Open Evening, ask to see a photo of their setup and submit your music requests early. All of these steps can help ensure you don’t book somebody who could potentially let you down on the day.
We always find out the couples music tastes in advance, asking their preferences on everything from Pop, House and Hip Hop through to classic Disco, Funk and Soul. We then look at our roster of professional DJs and match the best suited DJ to the booking. A lot of other companies are just a one man band and play the same set at every Wedding regardless of the couples tastes.
Although we started out supply only Wedding Discos we have rapidly expanded into an all round Wedding Entertainment Agency. We supply Fun Casino Tables, Uplighting, Singers, Bands, Photo Booths, Percussionists, Saxophone Players and much much more.
