REAL WEDDING LORNA AND BEN
Lorna and Ben married in June 2022 at the stunning Lough House Farm near Morpeth, Northumberland. A postponed date due to covid and the bride working in the NHS, the day was all the more special having to wait those extra 12 months.
We had the best day, literally everything we could ever have wished for and more.
The Engagement
Ben proposed on my 30th birthday two days after the birth of our first child. Ben had called me for a hand to help change a nappy. He’d had a baby grow made asking to ‘Marry my Mummy’ and Ben was down on one knee! I almost fainted and had to sit on the floor. Totally unexpected!
The Morning
The morning of the wedding was very relaxed, I finally sent Ben on his way to his best man’s house at around 9am. We had hair and makeup done by Jill from Lisa Jones Hair and Makeup. We enjoyed some snacks, fizz and watched some Disney with the children before getting in our dresses.

The Ceremony
I walked down the aisle with my two flower girls and my sister as Bridesmaid. We chose the song ‘Best of me’ by Anthony Hamilton. We wrote our own vows for the ceremony for an extra personal touch.

Drinks & Photography
We hired a Prosecco wall and had jugs of pimms and cans of beer in ice buckets outside for guests to help themselves.
Amazing photography by Fiona Saxton. We loved how she blended in and managed to capture the whole day perfectly.

Dining & Speeches
Our whole day was relaxed and we wanted an informal meal to match. We chose a hog roast by caterers North East Pig on a Spit. It was accompanied by lots of lovely homemade sides such as garlic rosemary potatoes, coleslaw, bacon ranch pasta salad and Greek salad. Tables were invited up by the wedding coordinator and it worked seamlessly, no queues with seconds (and occasional thirds!) for everyone.
Our love for ice cream naturally made us sway towards choosing Morwick Dairy’s ice cream bike with a choice of Mint Choc Chip, Honeycomb and Raspberry Ripple tubs.
For evening food we opted for a local recommended takeaway to deliver 40 large margarita pizzas which went down well with all the guests after a few drinks.

First Dance
Our DJ played our first dance, Lionel Ritchie- Destiny. It wasn’t long before everyone joined us on the dance floor.

Entertainment
We set up garden games, a ‘No adults allowed’ area in the stables for the children. This included soft cushions, colouring, balloons, face gems and their own tuck shop with crisps and sweets. We also brought our beer pong table which was enjoyed by a lot of the guests!
We hired a band who did two x 50 minute sets and a DJ to fill in around this. Both were fantastic.

Special Touches
We chose to collect a lot of pre-loved items and dried flowers to decorate the barn. It was time consuming but we were over the moon with the end result and it was totally worth it. We also provided snacks and treats for guests to help themselves throughout the day.

We were delighted that Lough House Farm allowed our cockapoo, Ernie, to join us for the ceremony and a few photos afterwards. Not all venues can offer this but it was really important to us that Ernie was there. He certainly enjoyed the attention!
We designed our wedding rings together at Dytham Jewellers. A great option was to have each others finger prints engraved on the inside of the rings which is, of course, really personal and special.

Favourite Moments
Lornas: Walking down the aisle and seeing all of our loved ones faces smiling at me especially Ben looking proud/emotional.
Ben: Our daughter saying loudly ‘my daddy is marrying my mummy’ during the ceremony!
