Jonny and Sophie’s Wedding at Doxford Barns
We look back on Jonny and Sophie’s wonderful wedding back in the summer of 2019, before the impact of the pandemic, when we could not have foreseen what was to happen.
The Meeting
Sophie’s Dad played a key part in their future as Jonny was working with him when he introduced him to his daughter Sophie. As their relationship blossomed, Jonny proposed on a trip to New York and Sophie said yes.
Photography
Ahead of their big day, they met with local photographer, Laurence Sweeney for a pre-wedding photoshoot and chat alongside Newcastle’s famous Quayside. It was a great opportunity for them to get to know Laurence better and visa versa. A pre-wedding shoot really helps create more relaxed images on your wedding day as you are building trust in your photographer.
The Morning
On the morning of the wedding, whilst the Bridal party were getting ready, and one of Sophie’s friends applied their make up, Sophie surprised Jonny with the gift of the use of a vintage E-Type Jag to take a drive around the country lanes of Northumberland.
Just before the ceremony, Sophie’s bridesmaids got their first glimpse of her looking amazing in her dress and veil. Her bouquet and flowers were dazzling.
Neither Sophie nor her Dad looked nervous as they made their way to the stunning Thresher Hall.
After the ceremony, it was time for the family and friends to say congratulations, then onto canapés and the group photos. Before the wedding breakfast, they had a few more photos along the lane and even got the chance to ride in a big tractor – a fab fun image from their day!
After excellent speeches from the Father of the Bride and the Best Man, unusually but so eloquently, Sophie spoke on behalf of herself and her new husband. Sophie created all the stationary and admirably, they decided not to have favours, but to make a donation to Gateshead Foodbank instead.
Before the arrival of the evening guests, they took a stroll in the fields accompanied by Laurence just as the sun was setting to capture the beautiful light and amazing surroundings.
The beautiful cake was made by Jonny’s Grandma. The evening continued with a great DJ set and an amazing performance by a Mumford and Sons tribute band, the dance floor was full for hours.
It was one of those weddings that went so well and all had a fantastic time
