Wedding and corporate events venue Clevedon Hall, one of the South West’s leading historic venues, is expanding its beautifully curated offering with the addition of a new orangery.

The Grade II* listed mansion, just a short drive from central Bristol, has received planning approval to build an orangery in keeping with the heritage of the original building.

The approved orangery designs have been carefully considered to remain in keeping with the existing design and construction of the Hall and will provide a new and dynamic space to complement the existing offering from Clevedon Hall now and in the future.

Combining history and tradition with every modern luxury, the extensive grounds of Clevedon Hall provide an ideal location for away day team-building activities, outdoor dining or simply evening drinks. The construction is due to be completed by mid-Autumn.

The completed orangery will be an extension of the hall, enhancing the provision of the existing facilities and seating up to 160 guests. The room will add another dimension to the comfort of the hall, allowing further configurations of the existing space for truly bespoke events.

The orangery will feature large floor to ceiling windows alongside an impressive atrium running the length of the space to maximise light and give guests an open-air experience. Solar-protective glass and underfloor heating will allow clientele to make use of the space all year round, which will be offered for hire to parties, weddings and businesses.

An orangery or ‘orangerie’ was a room or, sometimes a separate building, on the grounds of fashionable residences from the 17th to the 19th centuries where orange and other fruit trees were protected during the winter, similar to a greenhouse or conservatory. The use of glass makes for a warm and light space which creates an exotic environment used to showcase tropical and other plants which wouldn’t otherwise thrive in the British climate.

Commenting on this, James Matthews, managing director at Clevedon Hall, said: “It’s fantastic to finally be able to say that our new orangery is underway, and it’s great to see the Clevedon Hall offering continue to grow and develop together with our clientele.”

“The orangery will bring so much value to the existing Hall, providing more space in a unique location, ensuring our clients continue to choose Clevedon Hall as their preferred event space in the future.
