There’s never a more important time to have a well-stocked makeup bag than in the lead up to your wedding day! You’ll want to try out different looks and be sure you’ve covered every base, from your face to your lips to your eyes. Here are the key products that will ensure you’ve got everything you need to look and feel beautiful on your big day.

Face products

A flawless beauty look starts off with a solid base, and that involves the face. Primer will help your makeup stay in place all day and night long. Liquid foundation will be easy to blend, and a concealer will help deal with any niggles, like dark circles or spots. And finally a highlighter will give you that all-important glow.

Lip balm and lipstick

When it comes to your lips, you’ll be deciding between a subtle balm, gloss or full-colour lipstick. Whichever you plump for, make sure you keep your lips in top condition in the lead up with petroleum jelly. Are you wondering is Vaseline safe? There are no known common petroleum jelly dangers or side effects, so you can put your mind at rest about the question is Vaseline safe.

Palette

In the lead up to your wedding, you might want to experiment with a few looks before deciding on the final one. And the easiest, most cost effective way to do this is with an eye shadow palette. You’ll have a range of colours to try out, and you can blend different ones together on different parts of your lids to get a really professional finish.

Mascara

They say the eyes are the windows to the soul, so frame yours beautifully with mascara. Your significant other will certainly be staring into them when you say your vows. If you think the emotion might overcome you and you might shed a few (happy) tears, then a waterproof formula will help prevent you from looking like you’ve got panda eyes!

Eyeliner

To further accentuate your eyes, a slick of eyeliner will do the job perfectly. While many brides like to stick with tradition and go for dark brown or black liner, you can bring a pop of colour by using blue or purple. A kohl pencil will be easy to blend if you want that smoky eye look, or a liquid liner will give you precision flicks for a cat’s eye style.

Blusher

A healthy glow and rosy cheeks can be difficult to achieve naturally if you’re feeling a little apprehensive. Once the ceremony gets going the nerves will melt away, but you can fake it until you make it with blusher or bronzer to get your cheeks looking like they’re glowing with health.

Blotting paper

It’s natural to feel nervous on your wedding day, and start to ever so slightly perspire on your brow. You can lift that shine away without disturbing your makeup by using blotting paper. Keep these close by for touch-ups throughout the day.

Sponges and brushes

Finally, your makeup will only look as good as how well it’s applied, so make sure you have the best brushes and sponges. Makeup blending sponges have become very popular for a seamless finish when applying face makeup. Stock up on a range of brush sizes and they will help you with precise application of eye shadow.

With all of these tools in your kit you can be confident that you’ve covered all bases and you’re well prepared to shine, in the best possible way, on your big day.
